Great Support for Hot Rodders

I recently bought a cherry '93 Ruby Corvette (the 40th Anniversary model) which had been stored all its life.  In recent years it was garaged, and driven very little.  Even though it has fairly new good quality Nito tires, I noticed a very serious shimmy in the balance at about 60 to 70 mph on the Interstate highways.  I took it over to Butler Tire in…

Three Reasons Why You Should Consider Switching to HID Headlights

Three Reasons Why You Should Consider Switching to HID Headlights

Reason #1:  Custom Colorization

Most halogen headlights only produce the basic headlight color you’re used to seeing as you drive down a highway or back road at night.  Chances are, however, that you’ve also noticed some brightly colored headlights that stand out more than most of the others. …

Rat Rod Phenom!

Rat Rod Phenom!   Rat rods are here to stay; function over form that reflects our culture, our history, and our love affair with motors and wheels!  Wikipedia says:

"A rat rod is a style of hot rod or custom car that, in most cases, imitates (or…

Lawrenceville Riverside Sonic Gathering - "We don't want you here!"

I have been covering the Gathering at the Sonic on Riverside Drive in Lawrenceville, GA off and on for several years.  I always enjoyed the cars, the company and friendship of the young people that gathered there every Thursday night and the diversity of the groups.  This was one place where everyone got along, mostly. The few times when there was a bit of drama; it was a burn out (smoky), a foolish move like jumping a curb (it was videotaped), and showing off on Riverside on one's way to Rt…

The American Underslung Automobile & The American Motor Car Co.

When I was an early teen, I met Walt Seeley, the first professional auto restorer I had yet met, and he significantly altered my life.  He had a very large machine shop, and out front he sold exotic and rare cars, many were antiques already in 1960.  I sat in a 1936 Auburn Boat-tail and drove a Model T for the first time because he allowed me to (after a bit of pushing on…

Caffeine & Octane - In like a lion, out like a lamb!

Weather is tricky for any outdoor gathering, but March is particularly fickle.  I arrived to set up at the Caffeine & Octane gathering in Alpharetta, GA on March 6, 2011 a little early because I thought I might need time to set up in the drizzle rain. Of course the lot was empty but the drizzle had now strengthened and the breeze was more like a gusty wind. The weatherman had said it would be light and even would stop by 8am.  It was still dark, so we had some time to let it…
