Celebrate 30 Years of the Hollywood Hit "Christine" at Carlisle

Carlisle Chrysler Nationals to Host Reunion and Gathering of Cast Members in July

CARLISLE, PA – When Christine, a movie based on a Stephen King book, was released in theatres in December of 1983, no one could have ever imagined what it would still mean today.  Though everyone involved hoped for success, thirty years later the Plymouth Fury and the film itself are still very popular due to their association in the John Carpenter directed classic.  At the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, July 12-14 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, the movie will be celebrated, not only with a car that was part of the filming, but also with a handful of stars that shared the silver screen with the Fury.

Given the popularity of the film, will people come to see the car or the stars that it helped propel into the spotlight?  No matter the case, enthusiasts coming to Carlisle will indeed get to see an actual car that was in the film (there were many) and meet film stars Keith Gordon, Alexandra Paul, William Ostrander, Malcolm Danare and Steven Tash.  All five are scheduled to appear and sign autographs, meet fans and interact with patrons all weekend.  In addition, car owner Bill Gibson will be close by to talk about his association with the film car and how he procured the famous Fury.

Concerning each star scheduled to appear, Gordon and Paul were two of the leads.  Gordon played Arnie Cunningham, the young high-schooler who goes from outcast to rebel when he finds the car, rusted and dilapidated with a for sale sign on it.  After securing the car, much to the dismay of his best friend, Gordon's character, much like the car, undergoes a dark and dangerous transformation.  Though he went on to star in Back to School alongside the legendary Rodney Dangerfield, Gordon has primarily been billed as a director, writer and producer of various TV programs and films these days.

Alexandra Paul, who played co-lead Leigh Cabot and girlfriend of the Cunningham character, has starred in over 70 films and/or television programs.  Along with her Christine credit, she's famously known for her role of Stephanie Holden on Baywatch.  Still very much active today and when not filming, Paul can be found doing something physical as she's also a competitive endurance athlete.  She's competed in marathons, triathlons and has completed numerous other physically grueling challenges.

The additional cast members each played key roles in the film and are being billed as "The Wrecking Crew," so named due to the scene where a gang of bullies destroy Christine in a garage where she's being kept.  The crew consists of William Ostrander, Malcom Danare and Steven Tash.

Ostrander, who played the longhaired bully Buddy Repperton and nemesis to Gordon's Cunningham and the car itself, returns to Carlisle where he most recently appeared in 2011.  Along with his work in Christine, Ostrander has appeared in Knots Landing, Touched by an Angel and the 1985 mini-series North and South.

Starring as Moochie Wells, Malcom Danare has appeared in CSI: Miami, the 1996 summer blockbuster Independence Day, European Vacation, Flashdance, the Godzilla television series and others.  Most recently, Danare starred as Kipling in the 2012 made for TV movie Monster High: Escape from Skull Shores.  Danare is also featured on the cover of the original soundtrack to Christine.

Finally, Steven Tash or Rich Cholony to fans of the film, saw a featured spot in early portions of the original Ghostbusters film as well as having a guest role on Diff'rent Strokes.  Currently, Cholony is working with director Anthony Bueno to provide insight into the Ghostbusters films as part of new documentary called Cleanin' Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters.

All stars will be positioned within Building T and will available throughout the weekend.  In addition, certain fees may apply per autograph or photo.  Fees are at the discretion of each individual celebrity.  Finally, all stars are confirmed, but their appearance is subject to change or cancellation based on professional commitments.
