Gateway Classic Cars Marks First Anniversary of Alpharetta Showroom

Gateway Classic cars , one of the largest, oldest classic car consignment dealers in the world, celebrated the first anniversary of its’ Alpharetta , Georgia showroom on August 29. In business since 1999, there are 15 other showrooms throughout the US, including Dallas Chicago, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Tampa,Nashville,St.Louis,Detroit,Orlando,Louisville,Denver,Houston, Ft. Lauderdale, Scottsdale, and Philadelphia.

“All cars must pass a quality inspection” says Jeff Cole, consignment representative, “and we finance nationwide with 4-5 national banks that work with classic cars exclusively.”  In addition, Gateway ships vehicles worldwide, including recent sales to Canada, Guatemala, Jordan, Europe and Australia. With three ports nearby, Charleston SC, Savannah Ga., and Brunswick, Ga. international sales can be handled with ease. “We have several dealers around the US, from as far away as New York, that take advantage of Atlanta and its’ local economy, interstate system and airport, which all aid in selling these classic vehicles”, he says.

Gateway has a trade network that allows them to take trades in another showroom, on a car or truck for sale in the Atlanta showroom. For example, a man recently traded three vehicles ( a 68 Mustang, 79 Trans Am and a 48 GMC truck) in Atlanta for a 2014 Corvette in Gateways’ Orlando showroom.

The company occasionally gets consignments that were once owned by celebrities, including a 59 Rolls Royce once owned by Mary Wilson of the Supremes, a Mercedes once owned by Mick Mars of the band Motley Crue, and a 70 Ford truck once driven in a movie, and signed by Robert Duvall.

Jeff Cole is very proud of Gateway’s teamwork and dedication to giving back to the local community. “We have hosted many local car club meetings, including Georgia Street Rod Association, Atlanta Jaguar Society, the Austin Healey Club, Dixie Olds Club, etc., and collects toys and donations for Toys For Tots each winter which are distributed by the ROMEO Club.” The showroom sponsors “Coffee and Cars”, with complimentary coffee and pastries on the last Saturday of each month.

Eventually, the company plans to operate 20 or more stores in the Us and Canada. It has consigned over 14,000 exotic, classic, and collector vehicles. In fact, over 11% of all sales are exported.

Classic cars are such a "Rrrrrr..!" Totaly in love. I often go on backpack trips and dream to by some old 1964 Volkswagen. Perfect one to live in and to go surfing. Hope one day my work at career development center will bring me enough money to buy such bird.
